And what has been the result? Take them one by one and you will see that you would benefit through the change. For instance take China: You would be able to buy everything so much cheaper by pay- ing for it in sterling, and so it would be all around. If the newspapers would harge a year, instead of $50, do you think they would lose a single subscriber? Or if the Hotels chargo 12/- a day instead of $6, do you think they would have a single than they have now ? WHY DID YOU TEACH ME TO LOVE YOU SO,

[In his new book of verses, Up from WHEN I HAVE TO PRETEND THAT I DON'T, YOU KNOW. Georgia (D. Appleton & Co.), Mr Stanton in many of his poems strikes an
optimistic note that is very delightful. BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO
From this volume the following is quoted, showing this encouraging vein, and likewise emphasizing the portrayal of those Southern characteristics that have given Mr Stanton a place arnung our foremost dialect pouts.]
A PRETTY GOOD WORLD.
Pretty good world if you take it all around-
Pretty good world, good people! Better be in than under the ground.......
Pretty good world, good people! Better be here where the skies are as blue
As the eye of your sweetheart a-smilin' at
you...
Better than lyin' neath daisies and dow-
Pretty good world, good people! Pretty good world with its hopes and its
fears-
Pretty good world, good people! Sun twinkles through the rain of ite tears---
Pretty good world, good people!
Better be here, in the pathway yow know- Where the thorn's in the garden where
sweet rosch grow,
Than to rest where you feel not the fall o'
the snow-
Pretty good world, good people!
Pretty good world! Let us sing it that
way.
Pretty good world, good people!
Make up your mind that you're in it to
stay--
At least for a season, good people!
Pretty good world, with its dark and its
bright-
Pretty good world, with its love and its
light;
Sing it that way till you whisper, Good-
night!
Pretty good world, good people!

MEDICAL TESTIMONIALS
Dr B. O'BRIEN, M.D., Civil Surgeons- Faizabad, says Mr N. Lazarus, optician, examined my vision to-day, and I have much pleasure in testifying to the accuracy with which he determined the proper glasses for me to wear. His method of examination is a very ingenious and a0- curate one, and by it he should be able to ascertain the protter glasses for the core rection of all the errors of refraction met with in the eye.
Surgeon-Major G. O. HALL, in charge of the Eye Hospital, Allahabad, says—I have tested your Patent Refraction Test, and find it remarkably good and accurate, and I think it should prove very useful to all who are called upon to treat errors of refraction, specially Astigmatism, which is so common and yet so frequently over.. looked.
Dr. BEAUMONT, FR.C.S., M.D Re China Mail Office sidenoy Surgeon, Hyderabad, says -Me 5 Wyndham Street,
Lazarus has shown me his method of testing the eyes of persons whose vision is de- fective, and I consider that any one requir ing Spectacles may depend on baing care. fully fitted by him.
