The works of the British Westing. house Company, for the manufacture of the well-known Westinghouse electrical machinery, steam engines, and gas engiaus, ate, according to Engineering. the largest of their kind in Britain: 2639|aud probably no other fimm has ever conmmenced a manufacturing-engineering business on such a large scale. The area of the site acquired is about 130 'neras, sónue fi5 acres of which are on- closed within the buildings, while 32 acres are roofed in. It can never be said that the British Westinghouse Works have advanced in size from a small beginning, and it is this unique feature which goes a long way towards making the new works omst instructiva and interesting to engineers and, other manufacturers, The works are situated
