The Tide Table given below has been compiled by the Nautical Almanac Office in Loudon from the result of the nonlys ef beerrations taken by means of an oa. toustic tide-recording machine in the Wa- ter Police Basin at Tsim Sha Tani during the year 1887-5-9

The zero of the table is Low Watar Or dinary Spring Tides, which has been found to be 2 feet below mose son isval.

Truss nos to be smiled at in themselves may take on a humorous aspect through the manner of their expression. An old country sexton, in showing visiters round the churchyard, used to stop at a certain tombstone and say, This 'ere is the tomb of Tumans per amt la eleven wolves.' On one occasion a lady said Eleven! Dent is that's rather a lot, isn't it The old man looked as her gravels, and replied, Well, úmna, yor ser, it war s abby of 'is'n."
