While we fully agree with the Hon. F. H. May, in his crusade against insanitary houses, it must at the same tine. be admitted that he was somewhat a furtunaty in the manner of his strictures upon the character of the now block on Marine Let No. 12. As we have said, Mr May's aim in admirable, but the mode of attaining his object is not the happiest, Viewed from the oli, standpoint of insanita tion, the new block of houses in Pottinger „Stawuty, im 11 rost impavement, and as a mastor of fact the owner of the land has sacrificed a considerable amount of hand to air-space, over and above the requirements of the law. It is, therefore, to our way of thinking, most injudicions to single out new buildings for condemnation which are even better than the fiw lays down be pro- porty-owners. It is iot necessary here to entor upon the discussion as to whether Mr Danby's back-yards are mom or loss sani tary than lack lanes.
