[It is now five or six years since the Corta Rica Packet engaged in whaling in the Malay Archipelago. She had regularly. been utilised for the trade for some years previously. It appears that she was bound for Termute at the time the difficulty oc curred, which led to the subsequent pro seedings in this mattor. Two years prior to the arrival of the ship at Ternate the captain picked up a Malay canoe, and upon his arrival at Ternate the finding of the canoe was made the grounds of a Captain charge of piracy against him.
