Mr Robinson asked for an order to lay proceedings in this suit pending the decision of the Privy Council. wherein the defenson in it. dants, the owners of the Norwegian steamer Normandie are appclients and the owners of the British ship Feken the plaintiffs, are respondents. He then read an affidavit by Mr Hastings which set out the Normandie's caso on behalf of the defendants in the wuit in the Supreme Court for China and Japan at Shanghai in the suit brought by the Norwegian steamer Normandie against the British steaquer Fekin. The suit was com menced on the 22nd April, 1506, by the filing of a petition by the defendants in which they segod inter alia that, on the 3rd April 1896, s collision occurred between the steamahin Normandie and the steamship Felin in the River Whanges, and that the Pelin was to blame for the collision. They claimed judgment against the owners of the Pekin for the damage caused to the Normandi by reason of the said collision. Oz the 9th May, plaintiffs in this action (the owners of the Pekin) filed an answer in which they alleged the Normandie was to blame, and on the 12th May the plaintitis obtained leave from the Court to file a claim against the owners of the Normandie, and it was ordered that the hearing of the quit and counter-claims be taken together.
