It has been our duty for many years to criticise somewhat freely the adminis tration of the affairs of this Colony by successive Governors and sets of Go vernment officials. During the admin- istration of Sir William Robinson, we { The have found ourselves in the unusual position once or twice of being ranged on the side of the Officials as opposed to the Unofficials, but in all our oriticisms for or against the Govern- mant we have always endeavoured to act in the best interests of the general Frarians On data at Om date as community and with an eye to the future well-being of this small bat important Colony, Beyond making a few incidental references to particular instances, we bare refrained from mod- dling with the financial administration, our chief reason, and we do not hesitate in confessing it, being that we failed to anderstand some of the methode of Sir William Robinson and his henchmen Mr (now Bir) George O'Brien and Mr Stewart Lockhart. At the close of the last financial year, the Colony was informed that it had a balance at its credit of no less a sum than 8600,000, and yet in the same speech in which this encouraging announcement was made, we were startled into surprise by the further announcement that the The Russian torpedo boats Haydomas and...
