VICTORIA REGATTA, 1893.
President His Excellency Sir Williace Robinson, KJ.M.G.
The arrangements showed a remarkabla improvement on these of the previous day, dne, no doubt, to the ananimously ever sriticism of the Presa lincing evmmenced only ten minutes behind time, and there' were noun of the weary waits between the races which characterised the carrying ont of the first day's programme. While referring to this subject, it is only fair to take the opportunity of stating that the delay on Thursday should not be reckoned against the Hos. Secretary, Mr E, D. San- ders, who has worked most energetically to make the Regatta a success. The details for the carrying out of such an avent are necessarily very great, and where the Sec- Stewards:His Excellency Major-Gone- retary is also a competitor it means that ral Diphy Barter, B.; Commander Ashe, that unfortunate gentleman has far too much RN. SECO DAY.-Friday, Doc. 15. The Regata was resumed at two o'clock bis aftern. The weather overhead was much betta than on the opening day, but there was strong Northerly breeze which made the water somewhat lumpy. There was a larger attendance of epoctators of board the (agship Kitty and tas races weers followed by a large number of launches.
The opening race was a good one. It was the interndiosal rade, for which four crews had ontend-English, Irish, German and Portugues With Master back to stroke them, the English wore sxptoted to make better now than they did last year, and their four was undoubtedly a strong one.
