The former reel was bound from Wabu to Canton with tids and pulse, having left Wooing at 10a.m. on Friday. The same afternoon, while procending to HBs, the weather got foggy, and Captain Schaltz abasidered it advisable to author tll the fog lifted, so he turned back and anchored in mine fathoms, some two and half mileg off Elliot Island. While she was at anchor with fires banked, the short blasts of a fog- horn or bielle were heard a long way off,BE 8, 8. PARA NANG, Captain W. and the bell of the Pelving was rung. The WATTON, Sillas at Now on wind was blowing from the direction of SATURDAY, the 21st May, will proceed the sound, and shortly afterwards the high to VICTORIA, B.C., and TACOMA, via bow of

the Fushun, was soon coming recognised ay through the fog, Captain Behultz called out as loud as he could to the up- proaching steamer to starboard, but a collision occurred, the Fushun ramming the Peking on the starboard side, striking her on the bulkhead dividing the starboard bunker from the, main hold, and crashing through her mide and decks for distuuco
of between 6 and 6 feat. Captain Schultz being coprinced that there was no hope for the Peking, seat for everybody on board, some fifty people, to go to the side whore the two vessela were locked together, and made them olimb un the bows of the Fushun. The Peking rapidly filed, and before he left the vessel, the water was pouring in over the port bulwarks. Cap. tain Bakultz was the last 15 get on board the Fushun, Captain Oroad having kept his atonmar's bows in the hole in the Peking'a ride all the time. Capt. Croad then back. ed out and the Peking sank, bow first, in mine fathome, the funnel being just awash, bat during the night the strong thin carried away the funnel. No one saved anything and some 200 sheep on the dook were drowned, as was also the captain's dog. From the time of the collision to the time the Peking maak was about seven minutas, When the people on board the Fushun saw the Palang, the order was given to reverse- the engines, but she was so close that theo was foot sufficient time 43 stop her
Why
Three-quarters of an hour before the collision,
weather was fine and clear, and the Fecht, boand in from Frochow, saw the Pushes ahond of her, but the fog Bet in from Video and who lost sight of her. The Fechils passed Bonham at 4.85 p.m. and afterwards saw the feking sink. She anchored to render assistance, and picked up two of the Peking's life.baogs, and saw a chest of drawers and some wreckage floating about.
After the Peking sank the Fushun an- chored, and the two offloors of the Peking hung a lamp on her foremaat esa warging to vessels approaching. They could not get back to the Fushun till that stoamer, got up her anglur and went to thair uaticiance. On Saturday morning, Ettempts were made to engage a junk to stand by the wreck, and exhibit a lamp at night till the Coast. Inspector could be communicated with, but they could not find Jank people willing to undertake the job. A couple of balls were constructed and hung on the fore stay, Bonham beure from the wreck 5. 85 E, ringnotic.7 miles distant, and the wreck is is the track of YASED.R.
The damage done to the Fastun, which arrived here Saturday night, is not excessive, and the repairs will not proba bly cost more then la, 3,000. The sem is beat and perhaps cracked, but this cars not be ascertained till there has been a more detaileil examination. On the port side there are two holes and five plates
abova the water line are either broken or beat, three of them being broken. On the starboard side, two of the upper plates D the load liue nro ripped apart for some fest, while the other plates down to the water and below it are bent, and the framed juside are either beat or broken, all the damage being forward of the collision hulkhead. She has gone into Tingkidoo
