THIS Revicz, which was intended to meet yndunes of Chiness
caused by the discontinuance of Notes and Queries on China and Japon, has reached its Eighteenth Volumo. The Heview discus US those topics which are uppermost in the mùris of studenta of the Far East' and about which every intelligent person con- veeted with China or Japan is desirous acquiring trustworthy information. It in- oludes many interesting Notes and original Papers on the Arts, Sciences, Ethnology, Folklore, Geography, History, Literature, Mythology Natural History, Antiquities, and Social Manners and Customs, etc., ota., of China, Japan, Mangalia, Tibet, and the Far East generally. Recently a now de. parture has been taken, and the Review now gives papers on Trails, Commerce, and Descriptive notes of Travel by well-known writors. It was thought that hy extending the scope of the views in this direction, the Magazine would bo wiadomore generally useful.
The Review department receives special attention, and endeavours are made to prosent carsful and concisa record of Literature on China etc., and give critiques embodying sketches of the Most recont werke on zucă topics.
