MOST barefaced and astonishing robbery was sucessfully committed at Hung Hom Docks on Thursday night last. At present, the walls of the boiler shop are being m crossed in height, the old roof of the shop being raised up a short distance by means of scrow jacks as the work proceeds. Friday morning when the workmen re anmod their labiwira they discoveruil that the rent had been lowered down on the new wall at one part, and three of the jacks atolen: Each of these weighed from 100 Ibs. to 160 lbs, and is worth about $50, An inspection of the roof of the adjoining 796 shop showed that the thierea must have taken their plunder'over it, and thence en to the road. The robbery is certainly one of the most audacions over perpetrated here, and it is all the more surprising from "the fact that a number of men were at work in the adjoining abep all night, and that thera aro a large number of Indian watchmen on- duly every night at the docks. The Police are of opinion that the jacks are secreted somewhore in Victoria
