Soon after the Rei. port reached the Canton High Authorities, they instructed the Local Magistrate to make diligent enquiries into the matter, and then report. Enquiries were made sad it was found that there was not the slightest trath in the Report. As a matter of fact there is Ne French Cemetery in the neigh- bourhood of the Five Storied Pagoda There is one, however, situated in the Too Kuri Valley, outside the North Gate, and this was accidentally slightly damaged by Home grass-cutters who were in the habit of frequenting it.
