Bir Edmund Hornby's plausibly written and circumstantial sccount of the ghostly viliation of which he was the subject on the night of January 10th, 1875, in Shang- hai, has a very special intorcat for us here. Nothing could be more impressively plain and adorned; and Sir Edmund, who as a lawyer may to supposed to know the difference hatween good evidence and bad, is loarly convinced that the statement he makes is supported in the very strongest merner.
