On the 21st Aug., Messrs Major and Co., Shanghai, issued a circular, stating that in consequence of a dispute between "Yik Kes" hong and their firm in which the Tea Guild proposed to interfere, it might be considered desirable, in order to avoid a dangerous precedent, to ascertain the feeling of the trade on the following questions:-
"1st-Has a seller the right to de-

Mr King proposed, Mr Findlay se- conded-
"That this meeting is of opinion that the best means of settling all disputes between buyers and sellers of tea is by arbitration-as has hi therto been the invariable custom when the parties to the transaction have been unable to

By the same circular a meeting was convened at Kung-tao bong (Messra Blain & Co.), and all Chaoszes were particularly requested to attend and give their opinion.
