Most countries to which Hongkong for wards Correspondence having joined the General Postal Union or being probable about to do so, it is necessary that the following ruise be strictly observed.
1. No Letter or: Packet, whether to be registered or unregistered, can be received for Postageif it contains gold or silver money, jewels, precious articles, or anything that, as a general rule, in liable to Customs duties.
2. This Regulation probiblis the sanding of Patterns of dutiable articles, nuless the quantity sent be so small as to make the sample of no value.

The following Regulations as to the Indemnity to be paid in certain cases on the loss of Registered correspondence have been made by His Excellency the Governor auder Ordinance 10 of 1876, Section XII.
The Post Office is not legally responsible for the safe delivery of Registered corres- pondence, but benceforth it will be pre- Pared to make good the contents of such correspondence lest the Post, to the extent of $10, in certain lost while passing through
