THE CHINA MAIL.
HONGKONG, FRIDAY, OCT. 24, 1879,
THE London Times has a Corresponden in Shanghai, who, after glancing aroun from his metropolitan centre, discourse apon topics in China generally, Whi is now known as the Wu-shih-than cán at Foochow, forms the subject of th last letter to hand from the Shangh correspondent of the leading London da ly journal ; and we have nothing to ea against the tone adopted by "our co respondent” on the case itself. The o position of the Pagan gentry at Foocho is noted, as well as the "intempera zeal and enterprise, unaccompanied b discretion, of the Rev. Mr Wolfe." & far, indeed, as the leading facts of th case are concerned, there is no particuli objection to be taken to the manner which they are presented to the hon public. The portion of the letter which reasonable exception may be take is the following
