The Loan has been authorized by an Imperial Decree, dated 9th of October, 1878, The Loan, principal and interest, is specially secured by the hypothecation of the Ningpo and Hankow-the five Forte, which have the largest Customs Revenue of the Empire to the extent necessary for the dus payment of interest and repayment of principal of the sald Loan,
The special bypothecation of Customs Revenue to meet the charge of the present Loan in constituted by the deposit with the Hongkong and Shanghai banking Corpora- my7tion of Customs' Bonde, signed by Viceroys and Governors of the respective Provinces in which the Ports referred to are situated, which Bouds will be held by the Bank in trust for the holders of this Loan. These Customs' Bonds will be received, in case of nood, in paymont of Chinese Customs' Duties.
