The rather unpleasant change in the weather looks anything but promising for the Sports on Saturday next. The ground will be somewhat heavy for running. Apropos of the weather there was a beavy fall of bail-stones early this morning; the bail-utones were very large, varying from tot of an inch In diameter, and they could be gathered in handfulla, We believe that no little

damage has been dono to plants and shrubs by this unusual peppering. What with thunder and Rghtning, heavy rain, hall stones, föge, damp and a wretchedly muggy atmosphore, residence in our bleased little Island is anything but enjoyable at present. A month of such weather, and we should all cease to smile, even though there should be a chango for the better in the rate of exchange. Against this, of course, must be placed the incomparably fine weather of the last three or four months,

Low Abo: The prisoner was found guilty of stealing 50 bags of flour on the 25th November from the American barque Coloma. There were also several previous convictions against him. He stili denied the prime, saying that ho was not the man. Had he been the thief, he said, he would not have gone back to the ship and thus have run the risk of detection.

His Lordship said that, fortunately for society, great thieves were generally great fools, and consequently got, canight. He thought, looking at the long list of crimes for which the prisoner had been punished, that it would be an economy to the Colony to keep him in gaol, and the sentence of the Court therefore was that he be kept in ponal servitude for 6 years,
