The author bas quite as much to say in support of his ides, that a portion of the "Lost Tribes." came to Japan, as other writers have bud to advance in support of their contention that the Tribes went somewhere else. Several vain attempts have been made in modern times to discover where those Ten Tribes, who disappeared so mysteri ously whon Cyrus overthrew the Baby- Ionian Empire about 2,400 years ago, did meander. Some learned men have discovered them in India and China, while others have as stoutly maintained that the Afghans are their descendants, and even the North American Indians, It has boon finally left to Mr Maleed to unearth them in Japan. The author's contention is that the Lost Tribes travelled across Asia and a portion of them finally landed in the south of Japan under the first and, we fear, rather mythical Emperor of Japan, Jin Mu Tenno. They gradually subdued the aborigines of the Islands, killing most of them off, excepting in the north and extreme south of the country, and finally established themselves as the lords of the land. They were, according to the author, the samurai of that period. Previous to the conquest of Japan, when the Israelites had arrived in Cores, Mr Maleod is of opinion that they were divided there, and a part of them driven down towards Nanking which city they built. On their becoming strong enough. they conquered the whole of China and built Peking, and Corea, and made the Coreans first pay- tribute to China. The Israelites" in China were subsequently crushed and driven into oblivion by two succeeding races of Tartars, who spread over the coun try. Mr Mcleod expresses his opinion in the course of his book that "it is probable China, Japan,. and. Cores, will again be united under the power of the Jewish race with the Emperor of Japan at their head, as he can doubt. The publication of this issue commenced lessly claim to be the head of the 7.45 p.m.
