On Monday and Tuesday business will have to be more or less suspended on account of the Regatta; Wednesday will be Christmas day, while on Thursday the storekeepers and others have very senai- bly decided to close their establishmenta We say that the decision to make a general holiday on Thursday is a sensible one, because it seems to us that in this post of the world every reasonable opportunity for making a holiday ought to be seized, for the reason that it is impracticableTM in most of the business establishments hore to follow the custom at home of giving employés an annual congé for a week, fortnight, or month, as the case may be.
