OXYGEN IS LIFE.
Although the modson Materia Medica includes many valuable remedies for human nflictions, it where is a matter of certainty that in all cases the animal vitality is failing, Phosphorus is decidedly superior to every other remedy at present known. It will work effects such as nothing else will produce, and it possesses the great advantage of not causing, when its use is relinquished, the slightest reaction or depres sion.
Why
The question naturally presents
itself, is so valuable an element so little regarded and ao seldom proscribed ?" The only suswer which can be given is:That a cartain difficulty hea been found in so preparing it that its action may be kept ander perfect control. Hitherto it has boon used in almond and olive oils, in sulphurie ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in several other substances; but however valuable is has boon found in all the hitherto known methods of its preparation, certain irregular re sults have been experienced, which have led physicians to neglect it for general purposes, and te amplay. it only in extreme cases, and after every other remedy has failed. But a chismical process has now been discovered, by which ite invaluable action on the human system may be realised without any of those drawbacks which previous modes of administration bave invariably produced.
CAUTION-PROSEConus is sometimes sold in the form of Pills & Lozenges; it should be generally known that every form where solid Particles of Phosphorus are in combination is dangerous. It is therefore necessary that the public should be cautioned against the use of any préparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in water.
