HONGKONG HORTICULTURAL EXHIBITION SOCIETY, THIS afternoon the annual Flower Show of the Hongkong Horticultural Exhibi- tion Society was opened. in the Public Gardens, and will be continued to mor- row. Residents in the Colony need not be reminded how exceptionally cold it has been during the last few days. Had it been so cold to-day as it was yester day, visitors to the show must have felt it a serious drawback to their enjoyment. A meeting of the shareholders of the above Company was held this afternoon at the Office of the Company, Queen's Road. There were present: The Hon. H. Lowcock, (in the Chair), the Hon. F. The notice convening the meeting having been read, the Chairman said as the report had been in the hands of the shareholders for some time, he would propose that it should be taken as read. There was not much to add to the facts there. The losses amounted to $11,662.62, but these, although paid, in 1876 were those incurred in 1878, and wer ocused by a cleite which was submitted t arbitration at the time of the last report an which had been decided in favour of th Company, and by losses in the fire of Maro last at the house known as Fletchers!
