The extravagance of many of the Life Insurance Companies in New York has been attested by the revelation of the affairs of the Contincutal Life Insurance Company, which has lately gone into bankruptoy, Extravagant structures, rents, salarios, and other rookless expenditure tended to show and pretension, but the result is a heavy loss to polioy-holders, those on the Pacific coast alone counting up to a quarter of a million dollars.
