Ir seems that the Brindisi and Marsellles mails left London on the same day, and that all letters and papers not specially marked Marsailles were sent via Brindisi. Ilence the "mixing" that appeared to have taken place in the mails that arrived bere to-day.
THE weather all day has continued unset- tled, with frequent squalls of wind and rain, and it is currently believed amongst the Chinese that Hongkong will experience
another typhoon within 48 hours. The boating population have embraced the opportunity to demand exorbitant fares, to the great inconvenience of those whose business callod thom afloat. The Barometer continues to be unusually steady.
We hear that on the afternoon of the 27th the river str, White Cloud came into collision with two pasage boats on the Canton River as she steamed to moor alongside the wharf. The two boats were at anchor in front of the Tsing Yuen street, where the thongkong Canton and Macao Steamboat Company's Wharf is situated, and in attempting to get alongside, the steamer out one of them into two, while the stern of the other was somo- what datinged. It is aid that six or seven people lost their lives in the first boat and two or three in the second. The affale has beon satisfactorily arranged by Sir Brooke Robertson, by the payment of a small in- demnity.
