WHAMPOA
a paper on Dr. Legge's She King, by the Vauconver Rev. E. J. Eitel, to which the place of honour is deservedly given, an excellent summary is presented of the chronological problems and arguments involved in con- nexion with this important work. Some translations from Chinese novels and plays are marked by both accuracy and freshness of style and an account of the career of the Chinese post-atatesman of the eleventh century, Su Tung-p'o, by Mr. E. C. Bowra,
is not only historically valuable, but is also Ariadne distinguished by its literary grace. Beside Audacious notices of new books relating to China and Cyclop the East, which will be a useful feature of Egeria the Review, if carried out with punctuality Flamer and detail, we are glad to notice that Frolio "Notes" and "Queries" are destined to Hertha find a place in its pages also. It is to be Juno hoped that this opening for contributions Kearsarge on Chinese subjects may evoke a similar Kestrel degree of literary zeal to that which was displayed during the lifetime of its prede- Mosquito sessor in the field, and that the China Review Thalia may receive the support necessary to insure Thistle Its continuance. The publication is intend- Victor Emanuel ed to appear every two months, and will Vigilant
Yantio form a substantial ootavo magazine.
