The Post Office is not, by law, responsible for any loss or inconvenience which may arise from the non-delivery, mis-sending postal packet (even if the packet bere or win-delivery of any letter, book, or other gistered, see Section XVII, page. 18); nor is the Post Office responsible for any injury which a packet may sustain during is transmission. *
To guard against such injury all postal packets which are likely to suffer from stamping or from great pressure should be placed in strong covers; and even with this precaution mo fragile article should be sent through the Port Isshould be remembered that every packet has to be handled several times that it is exposed to considerable pressure and friction in the mail bag and that, whenever the bag has in the course of its transmission to be transferred by means of the railway apparatus, the risk of injury is much increased.
