The rumour about which the English newspapers have so much to say, relative to the rejection of the treaty concluded by Government with the United Staten, is not Mr Burlingame on behalf of the Chinsse believed in Washington. The rumour was. first started in the newspapers of Hong kong, which from the beginning have bles bitterly hostile to Mr Burlingame, and fo uo other reason, apparently, but that he a "Blerated Bamerican."
