POLICE FORCE (AMENDMENT) BILL, 1959.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL moved the Second reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to amend the Police Force Ordinance, Chapter 232."

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY seconded.

The question was put and agreed to.

The Bill was read a Second time.

Council then went into Committee to consider the Bill clause by clause. Clauses 1 and 2 were agreed to.

Council then resumed.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL reported that the Police Force (Amendment) Bill, 1959 had passed through Committee without amendment and moved the Third reading.

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY seconded.

The question was put and agreed to.

The Bill was read a Third time and passed.

FIRE BRIGADE (AMENDMENT) BILL, 1959.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL moved the Second reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to amend the Fire Brigade Ordinance, 1954."

The question was put and agreed to.

The Bill was read a Second time.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY moved the Second reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to amend the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance, Chapter 109."

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY reported that the Dutiable Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 1959 had passed through Committee without amendment and moved the Third reading.

CLEAN AIR BILL, 1959.

MR. P. C. M. SEDGWICK moved the Second reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to make provision for restricting pollution of the air and for matters connected therewith."

Council then went into Committee to consider the Bill clause by clause. Clauses 1 to 11 were agreed to.

MR. P. C. M. SEDGWICK: —Sir, I rise to move that clause 12 be amended as set out in the paper before honourable Members.

Proposed Amendment.

12. In sub-clause (2), leave out paragraph (b) of the proviso.

Clause 12, as amended, was agreed to.

Clauses 13 to 17 were agreed to

Council then resumed.

MR. P. C. M. SEDGWICK reported that the Clean Air Bill, 1959 had passed through Committee with one amendment and moved the Third reading.
