His Excellency the ACTING GOVERNOR and all the Members.
The Council met to-day by special Summons.
The Minutes of the Council held on the 27th November last, were read and approved. The ACTING GOVERNOR read Despatch, No. 174 of the 12th October last, from The SECRETARY OF STATE, directing amendments in some of the Criminal Laws of Hongkong, as also a Report from the ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE on the subject, - accompanied by a Draft Ordinance to amend Ordinances No. 4, No. 5, No. 7, and No. 8 of 1865. This Draft was laid on the Table and read a first time, as a Bill entitled "An Ordinance to amend certain Enactments relating to the Criminal Law."
The Council then adjourned to Monday, the 29th Instant, at Noon.
