The Council met to-day, pursuant to adjournment.
The Minutes of the Council held on the 17th March, were read and approved. The COLONIAL TREASURER applied to His Excellency for leave to withdraw, on account of illness.
Leave granted.
His Excellency The GOVERNOR moved, - That the Bill, entitled "An Ordinance for amendment and consolidating the Law respecting Pawnbrokers" be now read a second time.
Question put and passed.
Bill read a second time.
One motion of the GOVERNOR, the Council resolved itself into a Committee, for the consideration of this Bill.
Sections 1 and 2, amended, and agreed to.
Section 3 agreed to.
Section 2 recommitted, amended, and agreed to.
Sections 4 to 8 inclusive, amended, and agreed to.
Section 9 struck out.
Sections 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, renumbered, amended, and agreed to, - and ordered to stand as Sections 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
Section 11 recommitted, amended, and agreed to.
Section 17 made Section 16, amended, and agreed to.
To report progress, and sit again.
Committee reported progress, and agreed to sit again on Wednesday next, the 4th Instant.
