The Council met today pursuant to adjournment.

The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.

The Governor stated that three Barristers in the Colony had forwarded to him a letter for the Secretary of State for the Colonies on the subject of Ordinances No. 14 of 1856 and 4 of 1857, and that His Excellency would transmit it to its address.

The Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance for salvage and Prize in certain cases " was discussed section by section, amended and passed, being No. 5 of 1857. It was then ordered, that this Ordinance should be published in the next Government Gazette.

Messrs May and Caldwell were called in.

The proposed Registration Ordinance was laid on the Table and discussed as for as Section VII inclusive. The first Six Sections passed the Council unanimously, and Section VII was amended and passed, by a majority of Notes, of 4 to two, namely.

The Council then adjourned sine die, and it was decided that in the meantime the Ordinance from Section VII exclusive, should be referred to the Registrar General for report and for such suggestions in writing as he might be able to offer for the consideration of the Council.
