The Council met today by Special Summons.

The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.

Resolved, that the Provisions of the Neutrality Ordinance, No. 1 of 1855, be renewed for one year from the 2nd January 1856. An Ordinance to that affect was then read a first time.

With reference to the Gunpowder Ordinance, an Honorable Member reported that the Ordinance Department had proposed, on payment of Rent, to take charge of all gunpowder imported into the Colony. It was resolved, that the Governor be requested to instruct the Colonial Secretary to inform himself officially with respect to the proposal of the Ordinance, and to ascertain how far it has the sanction of the Supreme Military Authorities, with a view to modifying the Ordinance in question, if satisfactory arrangements be made.

The Council then adjourned till Wednesday, the 2nd January 1856, at 1 o'clock precisely.
