The Council met today by Special Summons, pursuant to Resolution.
The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.
The Governor laid on the table the Intestate Estates Ordinance printed in accordance with the amendments made and approved at the last meeting, a copy of which had been supplied to each Member on the 11th Instant.
On motion of the Chief Justice, the Title of the Ordinance was revised and agreed to.
The Governor suggested an amendment of the first Marginal abstract attached to Section II, and the same was made with the concurrence of the Members.
At the suggestion of Mr. Hillier, and with the approval of the Council, the words "to be made in this Colony" were inserted in the last sentence at the end of the same section.
His Excellency then moved that the said Ordinance do pass.

Ordinance put and passed. It bore the following Title: "An Ordinance to repeal Ordinance No. 6 of 1854, entitled 'An Ordinance to provide for the disposal of unclaimed Balances of the Estates of Persons lying intestate within the Colony of Hongkong,' and to substitute other provisions in lieu thereof," being No. 5 of 1855, which was ordered to be published in the Government Gazette.
The Acting Attorney General gave notice of his intention to put in a Minute stating his reasons for voting against the passing of the Ordinance, and the Council adjourned sine die.
