(See tables 44-47)

At the end of 1965, there was a total of 12,657 beds available in all hospitals in Hong Kong excluding those hospitals maintained by Her Majesty's Armed Forces. This total includes the Kowloon Hospital where further renovation was carried out during the year. An additional 519 beds in private maternity and nursing homes were also available. Development over the past 10 years is illustrated in Figure 11 and it is a mark of Hong Kong's achievement to record that the total of 13,176 beds represents an increase of slightly more than 200% over the bed provision in 1950.
