The battalions fired a feu-de-joie, each volley being preceded by seven guns from the batteries on right and left alternately. After the Royal salute had been given and three cheers for Her Majesty, the troops marched past, following which they advanced in review order and saluted.

On the afternoon of the 23rd was held a Jubilee Athletic Sports Meeting, on the race course at Wongneichong. Beautiful weather favoured the event throughout and a vast concourse of people witnessed the various items with much interest. Prices were obtained by subscription from the community, and consisted of gold, silver and bronze medals struck for the occasion.

On the 24th pony races were held under the auspices of the Jockey Club, and polo matches under the auspoutces of the Polo Club. In the evening, at the City Hall, there was a performance of "The Gondoliers" by the Hongkong Choral Society (predecessors of the present Philharmonic Society).
