The son of J. M. D'Almada e Castro, the younger of these pioneers of the Portuguese community in Hongkong, is Mr. Leo D'Almada e Castro, Senior who has been a solicitor here since 1908, and besides his barrister son (Leo Jr.) has a younger son recently admitted to practise as a solicitor so that three generations, going back to the foundation of the Colony, have at one time or another been connected with the Courts of Hongkong and the local legal profession.
Incidentally, the family of Leonardo, the elder brother who came over with Captain Elliot, is also well represented in the legal profession of Hongkong, so that the family name is destined to live long on the records of the Supreme Court: we find the name of Mr. F. X. D'Almada e Castro, Senior mentioned in the early Nineties, when he became an articled clerk prior to qualifying as a solicitor, being admitted to practise on August 24, 1897, and his brother, Leonardo, named after their distinguished father, was appointed Clerk to the Puisne Judge, in December that year; while a son has continued the legal tradition.
