CHAPTER 170.
WILD ANIMALS PROTECTION.
To make provision for the protection of certain wild 56 of 1936.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Wild Animals Short title. Protection Ordinance.
2. (1) No person shall kill, take, or have in his Provisions possession any wild animal named in the Schedule.
for the protection of certain wild animals.
(2) No person shall sell, or expose for sale, or have Schedule. in his possession for sale, the carcase, flesh, fur, skin or scales, or any part thereof, of any such wild animal killed or taken in the Colony.
3. Every person who contravenes or attempts to Penalty. contravene any provision of section 2 shall be liable upon summary conviction to a fine of five hundred dollars and to 22 of 1950, the forfeiture of such animal or such part.
Schedule.
4. When any person is charged with an offence Presumption. against subsection (2) of section 2, it shall be presumed, until the contrary is proved, that the animal was killed or taken in the Colony.
5. The Governor in Council may—
Powers of the Governor in Council.
(a) for scientific, taxidermic, zoological or other purposes, and subject to such conditions and in such manner as he thinks fit, exempt any person or institution from the provisions of section 2 or any part thereof;
(b) add to, alter or amend the Schedule in any manner whatsoever.
