CHAPTER 100.

REGISTRAR GENERAL (ESTABLISHMENT).

To establish the office of Registrar General, to define the duties thereof, and to make provision incidental thereto.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Registrar General (Establishment) Ordinance.

2. There shall be a Registrar General who is hereby authorized ex officio to exercise all the powers, privileges and duties and discretions from time to time vested in, and to discharge the duties from time to time required to be performed by, the offices specified in the Schedule hereto.

3. The Governor may appoint a Registrar General and may also appoint such number of deputies under the style of deputy registrar general as may in his opinion from time to time be required to assist the Registrar General in the performance of his duties.

4. Any deputy appointed under section 3 may subject to any instructions of the Governor and to the instructions of the Registrar General exercise all the powers, privileges and discretions vested in the Registrar General and shall subject to any such instructions discharge such part of the duties of that office as may be assigned to him.

5. Nothing herein contained shall derogate from the provisions of sections 2 and 9 of the New Territories Ordinance, (Cap. 97.) or from the provisions of any enactment empowering the Governor or any other person or body to appoint a person to any of the offices specified in the Schedule hereto or to appoint deputies and assistants to the persons holding such offices.
