CHAPTER 54.

GASHOLDERS EXAMINATION.

To make provision for the periodical examination of gas-holders.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Gasholders Examination Ordinance.

Short title.

2. The Governor in Council may make regulations for the periodical examination of gasholders.

Regulations.

3. Regulations under section 2 may provide that if the proprietors of any gasholder in the Colony wilfully fail to carry out any requirement of any such regulation they, and where the proprietors are a corporation every director and manager thereof, shall be severally guilty of an offence, and such regulations may prescribe penalties therefor: Provided that no penalty so prescribed shall exceed a fine of one thousand dollars.

4. The Governor in Council may at any time call upon the proprietors of any gasholder in the Colony to show cause why the said gasholder should not be declared unfit for use. If on being so called upon the proprietors fail to show such cause to the satisfaction of the Governor in Council, the Governor in Council may by Order declare the gasholder unfit for use; and if, whilst such order remains unrevoked, the gasholder is used to hold gas the proprietors, and where the proprietors are a corporation every director and manager thereof, shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of one thousand dollars.
