Building (Escalators) Regulations

(CAP. 123)

32. (1) Where an escalator is installed in any building, it shall be in addition to--

(a) any staircase required by regulation 39 of the Building (Planning) Regulations; and

(b) the means of escape in case of fire and second staircase required by regulation 41 of the Building (Planning) Regulations.

(2) An escalator shall not be a staircase, passage or other normal means of egress for the purposes of regulation 43 of the Building (Planning) Regulations.
