(b) in the case of an individual, a relative;

(c) in the case of a company, a director or officer of the

company;

(d) in the case of a partnership, a partner;

(e) in the case of a body of persons, a member;

"basis period" for any year of assessment is the period on the profits of which tax for that year falls to be computed;

"bill of sale" means a bill of sale registrable under the Bills (Cap. 20.)

of Sale Ordinance;

"business" includes agricultural undertaking, poultry and 3 of 1949, s.2.

pig rearing and the sub-letting by any person of any premises or portion thereof rented by him;

"Commissioner" includes the Commissioner of Inland Revenue appointed under this Ordinance, and the deputy commissioner, and an assistant commissioner specially authorized by the Commissioner either generally or for some specific purpose to act on behalf of the Commissioner;

"corporation" means any company which is either incorporated or registered under any enactment or charter in force in the Colony or elsewhere;

"debenture" means a debenture as defined in subsection (1)

of section 2 of the Companies Ordinance; "deputy commissioner" means the deputy commissioner of

Inland Revenue appointed under this Ordinance; "executor" means any executor, administrator, or other person administering the estate of a deceased person, and includes a trustee acting under a trust created by the last will of the author of the trust;

"incapacitated person" means any minor, lunatic, idiot, or

person of unsound mind;

"income arising in or derived from the Colony" for the 3 of 1949, s.2.

purpose of Part III, shall, without in any way limiting

the meaning of the term, include all income derived from services rendered in the Colony and any annuity payable in the Colony;
