(4) "Bill of exchange" includes cheque, circular note, draft, letter of credit, order, travellers cheque, and any 54 & 55 Vict. instrument (except a bank note or compradore order) entitling or purporting to entitle any person, whether named therein or not, to payment by any other person of, or to draw upon any other person for, any sum of money; and the term "bill of exchange payable on demand" includes-

Charter party.

(a) an order for the payment of any sum of money by a bill of exchange or promissory note, or for the delivery of any bill of exchange or promissory note in satisfaction of any sum of money, or for the payment of any sum of money out of any particular fund which may or may not be available, or upon any condition or contingency which may or may not be performed or happen; and

(b) an order for the payment of any sum of money weekly, monthly, or at any other stated periods, and also an order for the payment by any person at any time after the date thereof of any sum of money, and sent or delivered by the person making the same to the person by whom the payment is to be made, and not to the person to whom the payment is to be made, or to any person on his behalf.

(5) "Bill of lading" means any instrument signed by the owner or master of a vessel, or by the agent of the owner, which states that certain specified goods have been shipped upon a particular vessel, and which purports to set out the terms on which such goods have been delivered to and received by the vessel.

(6) "Charter party" means any instrument for the charter 54 & 55 Vict. or hiring of any vessel or of some principal part thereof, and c. 39, s. 49.

any memorandum, letter, or other writing (other than a bill of lading) between the master or owner of any vessel and any other person for or relating to the freight or conveyance of any money, goods or effects on board any vessel.

Compradore order.

(7) "Cheque" means a bill of exchange drawn within the Colony on a banker within the Colony and payable within the Colony on demand.

(8) "Compradore order" means an order for the payment of money addressed to a compradore, and signed by the employer of the compradore or by some person in common employment with the compradore.
