3. The said A. B. shall not return to Hongkong until five years shall have elapsed from the date of such embarkation, unless he shall be permitted to return by the Governor of Hongkong,
4. The said Colonial Secretary of Hongkong shall contract with the owner of such ship or his agent for the passage of the said A. B. on such ship, and for his subsistence during the voyage for which he is to be embarked as aforesaid.

A.D. 1897. AN ORDINANCE to facilitate the Recovery of Possession of Tenements and Premises of small Value.

Short title.
Interpretation of terms.
WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the more speedy and effectual recovery of the possession of tenements and premises of small value:
Be it therefore enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Small Tenements Recovery Ordinance, 1897.

2. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires,
"Premises" mean lands (including leaseholds), houses, and other corporeal hereditaments:
"House" includes a matshed or other structure:
"Owner" means the person entitled to the immediate reversion or to the possession of the premises; and where the property is held in joint tenancy or tenancy in common, any one of the persons entitled to such reversion or possession:
"Agent" includes any person usually employed by the owner in the management of his property, or in the letting of the premises, or in the collection of the rents thereof, or specially authorized...
