(2.) Every person who is convicted of any misdemeanor under this Ordinance in respect of which no penalty is specially provided shall be liable, at the discretion of the Court, to imprisonment, with or without hard labour, for any term not exceeding two years.

Miscellaneous Provisions.

29. No person shall be proceeded against under section 23 or section 24 except within two years from the date of the offence or without the consent of the Attorney General.

Limitation of certain prosecutions.

30. The present Collector and all other officers of the Stamp Office are hereby continued in their offices.

SCHEDULES.

THE FIRST SCHEDULE.

TABLE OF STAMP DUTIES FOR DOCUMENTS REQUIRING TO BE STAMPED.

A document containing or relating to several distinct matters is to be separately and distinctly charged with duty in respect of each of such matters. A document liable to stamp duty under more than one Article of this Schedule shall be charged under that Article which imposes the highest duty.

1. Adjudication as to the amount of stamp duty to be levied on any document $1.

2. Affidavits, statutory declarations, or declarations in writing upon oath or affirmation made before any person authorized by law to take the same or to administer an oath or affirmation and not otherwise chargeable with duty $1.

Exemption. This article shall not apply to any such affidavit or declaration made for the immediate purpose of being filed or used in the Supreme Court or before any Judge or Officer of such Court or to any affidavit or declaration made for the sole purpose of enabling any person to receive any pension or charitable allowance.
