SOCIETIES
223. Under the Societies Ordinance the Commissioner of Police is the Registrar of Societies. On 31st March, 1969, there were 1,737 registered Societies and 242 societies exempted from registration under the Societies Ordinance.
224. During the year 112 new societies were registered and 28 societies were granted exemption. One society changed its status from exemption from registration to registration under the Societies Ordin- ance; 19 societies changed their status by registering as companies; five societies were dissolved under the Societies Ordinance. Applica- tions from 39 were under consideration on 31st March, 1969.
ARMS LICENSING
225. At the end of the year a total of 1,350 arms licences were in issue. 92 weapons and 1,060 rounds of ammunition confiscated by the courts were disposed of during the year.
MISCELLANEOUS LICENCES
226. The Commissioner of Police in addition to being the Licensing Authority under the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance is Licensing Authority under certain other ordinances. At the end of the year the number of licences issued under the ordinances were:
