from the Police Force Welfare Fund. The 15th annual Police Primary Schools Joint Sports Meeting was held on the 18th December, 1968, at the Police Sports Ground in Boundary Street. It was attended by about 2,000 children. The Commissioner officiated at this function and Mrs. EATES presented the prizes.
SCOUTING
208. The Kowloon troop consisted of 46 scouts and 23 wolf cubs. The Hong Kong troop had 32 scouts and 21 cubs, while the New Territories troop had 39 members. The Girl Guide Company had 14 members. During 1968-69 five Queen's Scouts Medals were awarded to the scouts of the Kowloon troop.
HEALTH
209. Medical posts and dental clinics at Central, Canton Road, Cheungshawan Road, Tin Kwong Road and Wong Tai Sin Rank and File married quarters dealt with cases of sickness and minor injuries. 9,388 Police officers were included in the annual X-ray survey of the Force and civilian staff, 52 cases of active tuberculosis were discovered as compared with 30 in the previous year. Regular visits were paid to police officers in hospital by Welfare Office staff and assistance was given to patients and families when necessary. Books and magazines were regularly distributed to patients, the cost being met from the Police Force Welfare Fund.
210. 25 sessions on maternal and child health for police wives were held by the Medical and Health Department staff at Arsenal Street Police Rank and File Married Quarters, and a total of 1,203 cases were dealt with. Police families in Kowloon attended the Cheung Sha Wan Maternal and Child Health Centre.
211. The number of working days lost during the year on account of sickness was 36,186. Sick leave for officers amounted to 2,621 days and for other ranks to 33,565. Tuberculosis amounted for 7,871 man- days lost as against the previous year's figure of 3,538.
CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES
212. There are a total of six Consumers' Co-operative Societies in Police Rank and File Married Quarters. Each had a successful year
