seven who had previously been members of the force were re-enlisted, and 122 who had applied in the previous year were also taken on strength. Total enlistment for the year was 918 and there were 279 applicants under consideration at the end of the year.

65. 845 recruit constables completed their training during the year and 440 were still under training on 31st March, 1967.

Women Constables

66. During the year 252 women applied to join the Force and were interviewed and tested. Of these, 48 were accepted as recruits and 14 who had applied the previous year were also taken on strength. Total enlistments for the year were 62, and 40 applications were under con- sideration at the end of the year.

67. 110 women constables completed their training during the year and passed out from the Training School and 22 were still under training at the end of the year.

68. The recruiting standards for Police Constable, male and female, are shown at Appendix 9.

Launch Mechanics

69. Of the 42 applications for Launch Mechanic received during the year eight were accepted, while four who had applied the previous year were also taken on strength making the total enlistments for the year 12. 43 completed their Police training during the year.

POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL

70. The Hong Kong Police Training School is situated at Wong Chuk Hang near Aberdeen on the south side of Hong Kong Island about nine miles from the centre of Victoria.

71. It is commanded by a Senior Superintendent with a Superintendent as his Deputy, and another Superintendent holds the post of Staff Officer and is responsible for the supervision of all instructors and training in the School. The establishment of the School comprises eight Senior Inspectors, 38 Inspectors, 45 Non-Commissioned Officers and 17 Con- stables and these officers are engaged on instruction, recruitment and administration of the School. Two Police Training Officers are attached to the School to advise on methods of training, training techniques and
