59. The approved annual estimate of expenditure was $113,074,900 and actual expenditure was $111,842,494. A breakdown of actual expen- diture for the last three years is shown in Appendix 8. As mentioned else- where in the Report, the Traffic Licensing Office became part of the Transport Branch of the Colonial Secretariat during the year and the figures for revenue in respect of motor vehicles and drivers are therefore not shown in this report. The total revenue still collected by Police from other sources amounted to $1,124,106.

Officers
60. During the year 56 overseas and 71 local officers were recruited and 19 members of the Rank & File were promoted to the rank of Inspector. 45 overseas and 53 local officers passed out from the Training School during this period and 41 overseas and 60 local officers were still under training at the end of the year.
61. Five Women Probationary Inspectors were recruited during the year, three passed out from the Training School during this period and four were still under training at the end of the year.
62. The recruiting standards for Inspectors are shown at Appendix 9.
Constables
63. The recruiting drive was maintained throughout the year both at the recruiting stations and by holding special field days in various places in the Colony.
64. During the year 5,956 men applied to join the Force as Constables. This compares with 6,713 in 1965-66. 789 were accepted as recruits;
