Rank and File Married Quarters had a successful year. The Executive Committees devoted a considerable amount of their own time to keep- ing the four organizations functioning on proper lines. Business at Cheung Sha Wan Road amounted to nearly $600,000 while at Arsenal Street, Tin Kwong Road and Tanner Road it exceeded $270,000 in each case.
226. The gross turnover of the four Co-operatives amounts to $1,400,000. Appreciation is due to the staff of the Government Con- sumers Co-operative Society for the sound advice provided.
WELFARE COMMITTEE
227. Staff Sergeant Welfare Meetings were held each month, matters raised in these meetings are dealt with by the Staff Officer (Welfare).
228. Lectures were given to Probationary Inspectors and Advanced Training Courses at Police Training School in respect of welfare in the Force.
ENTERTAINMENT
229. A total of 18 launch picnics were held during the past year for the families and members of the Rank and File throughout the Force. They were very well attended. Food parcels were provided and expenses were met from Police Welfare Fund.
POLICE SPORTS ASSOCIATION
230. This association continued to be the home for all Force repre- sentative sports. All members of the Force including members of the Civilian Staff, Auxiliary, and Police Pensioners are entitled to member- ship of the Association.
231. The Association is controlled by a General Committee who are elected annually by the full members. The President of the Associa- tion nominates the Chairman and the Staff Officer (Welfare) and one representative from each Command to serve as ex officio Committee Members. Each branch of sports has a sub-committee to run its own activities, such as annual inter-divisional competitions from which ability in the particular sport is assessed for Force representation.
232. The most popular games amongst the Rank and File are foot- ball, basketball, athletics, swimming, billiards, volley ball and table
