121. Additionally, this branch also investigates Tin Sin Kuk or 'Heavenly Swindle' cases and cases of vice, which can, because of the need for protracted enquiry, be dealt with more effectively at Head- quarters.
PREVENTION OF CRIME OFFICE
122. On 1st November, 1965, the Prevention of Crime Office became a separate branch of the Criminal Investigation Department under the command of a Superintendent of Police. This office consists of the Juvenile Liaison Office, Deportation Office, Police Supervision and Vetting Sections, the Police Drug Disposal Unit and the Interpol Sub-Bureau.
123. The Juvenile Liaison Office directs the policy and actions of the Juvenile Sections in the Districts. The main objective of this office is to keep a careful watch on the behaviour of persons under the age of 21 with a view to preventing crime and to rehabilitating youngsters who have criminal tendencies. This office works very closely with other Government Departments and Welfare Organizations with kindred aims.
124. During the year 4 cases involving 5 persons were referred to the Deportation and Detention Advisory Tribunal, established under the Emergency (Deportation and Detention) Regulations 1962. The number of persons held in detention was reduced from 33 to 9, and of the 5 referred to the Tribunal during the year under review 4 were placed in detention and 1 was awaiting a decision in his case. 5 British subjects and 81 aliens were deported.
125. 329 new Police Supervision orders were issued during the year, a decrease of 42 compared with the previous year. This brings to 10,632 the total number of orders issued since the introduction of the system in 1956. Of the total of 1,153 supervisees, 401 were serving prison sentences at the end of the year. The Police Supervision Section con- tinued to maintain a close liaison with the various voluntary agencies
